My first job in the floral industry began six years ago, long before Sweet Ginesta was just a gleam in my eye. During that time, I worked in three separate floral shops. First, being trained in traditional floral design, then a more modern technique in recent years. My husband and I always thought starting a home-based studio would be at least a couple years down the road. I was pregnant with our first around the time sweet ginesta was realized. My due date was fast approaching and valentine’s was looming shortly thereafter. The demands of a new baby and working in the shop didn’t jive well, but the thought of quitting flowers forever was unbearable to me. Floristry had been a huge part of my life since my mid-teens. My husband and I decided what better time than now. I know, starting a business two months before maternity leave didn’t seem like the greatest plan, but it has worked out so far. I take on as many events as I feel comfortable with so long as I am spending sufficient time with my son. I also love that I get to share my passion for floral design with my son. Sweet Ginesta specializes in wedding and event work but offers full florist services by appointment.
